The picturesque City of Coconut Creek is located in Broward County, South Florida, nestled between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. Coconut Creek is widely recognized as a well-planned community with a unique environmental consciousness touting an abundance of trees, waterways, attractive landscaped roads, beautiful parks, and butterfly gardens throughout our neighborhoods. This is due to the City’s progressive planning approach to creating a unique life-style for our residents and businesses. Coconut Creek is the first in the State of Florida and eleventh in the country to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat.
As the Butterfly Capital of the World, Coconut Creek is home to the world’s largest butterfly aviary, Butterfly World; with over 80 species and 5,000 individual butterflies.
The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (FAPA) has recognized the City’s “MainStreet Design Standards” project with an Award of Excellence in planning. A MainStreet concept is planned for the heart of Coconut Creek that includes a town center for residential, retail and commercial use.
Coconut Creek also received a national honor with a grant from the Kodak American Greenways Awards Program for the creation of interpretative signs for City greenways and parks.
The City is 12 square miles with approximately 50,000 residents and 1,400 businesses. Housing is primarily single-family homes, condominiums, and townhouses within professionally landscaped communities.
