The Tlomackie Synagogue in stained glass was inspired by a photograph obtained from the Royal Library of Copenhagen collection. The Tlomackie Synagogue is located in the city of Warsaw, Poland, the artist's home town. The Synagogue was constructed in the 1870s by the Italian architech Leandro Marconi. It was destroyed by the Germans in 1943 during the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto. The synagogue was rebuilt by the Polish government in the 1950s. This work was undertaken at the Wynmoor Stained Glass club facilities during 1995-96 and received First Prize at the Wynmoor Annual Resident Art Show of 1997. |
